RUTH PERKINSON

"Some books are so good they set you on fire. This is one of those books, destined to become one of those classics everyone should read, and trust me, you will want to read this novel... This is a story about loss, guilt, love and loyalty. It is written with skill and scope, allowing us into a young girl's life, letting us see through her eyes, hear her voice, feel her fear and confusion and hope.  This novel should go on every library shelf, be on every required reading list, and earn its place alongside the book Piper eventually read, To Kill a Mockingbird, and other inspiring classics like it, those books we love to read and read again." - Bett Norris, December 2007

What You Need to Know
What everyone should know is that gay youth need a voice!

What GLBT youth need are educators, parents and peers to understand and listen to the true feelings they struggle with on a daily basis. Too many of the GLBT youth are still, EVEN TODAY, relegated, dismissed, bullied and covertly and overtly marginalized by the continuation of the provincial thinking of the masses - due to ignorance and an unwillingness to reach out.

Perkinson is fully supporting and advocating for ROSMY: The Richmond Organization for Sexual Minority Youth. This organization is making stride in its efforts to support the nearly 15,000 gay youth in the metro Richmond area who are in need of resources and services.

Look for her to partner with ROSMY in the future for an alliance that will be strong and resourceful. Go ROSMY!
